Accepted!!!

0

After waiting 7 weeks (January 26th) since my phone interview and getting Pending Status on February 9th, I have finally been accepted into the Disney College Program as a Quick Service Food and Beverage Cast Member! I was very excited when I finally got the email. I was checking my email during class, so I smiled when I saw the (1) next to my Disney College Program email folder. I opened up the email and a smile went over my face. Once I got out of class, I was beyond excited. I am going to work for Disney, I can't believe it! :)

While QSFB was not in my Top 3 choices, I will take anything to work for Disney. My mom thinks that what really helped me get in was the phone conversation with my recruiter on Friday. I had sent an email to the DCP email address on Tuesday, March 9th and addressed at the top for the email to go to the recruiter listed in my pending letter. I got a phone call on March 11th from the recruiter asking me to call her back so she could answer my questions. I was in class when she called me so I had to call her back on Friday. When I called on Friday, we had a nice 5-10 minute conversation and she seemed to ease my nerves about waiting for a decision. My mom thinks that talking with my recruiter on the phone showed that I am very interested in the Program and therefore led to my acceptance. I think that might of played a part. ;)

(I will probably create a new vlog once my purple folder comes.)

Nevertheless, I am a Quick Service Food and Beverage Cast Member for Fall Advantage 2010. Now to decide on arrival dates...

Phone Interview Complete!

0

I just got off the phone with Anette. Interview lasted 24 minutes. We talked about my Top 3 roles (Attractions, Merchandise, Main Entrance Operations). I wasn't asked all the questions I had prepared for. From the sound of the interview, I think I might be better fit for Merchandise or Main Entrance Operations. Anette asked about multi-tasking and if a guest needed help and the phone started ringing, who would I help (I said I would help the guest first since they are the most important). I added Walmart to my previous job experience section of my application since I had run out of room when filling it out to add a 4th job. I think this is why Anette asked questions about merchandise and cash handling. Anette told me I should expect to hear something within 3-4 weeks, though I will use what the website says as a guideline.

Overall, I told Avette that I was a huge Disney fan and the reason I am interested is because I'm a big fan and also I like to read Disney websites, blogs, and watch videos every day. I made sure to tell her to "have a magical day" before hanging up and she said the same to me. :)

Waiting period begins again...

Welcome!

0

Welcome everyone to my Disney College Program blog for Fall 2010. My name is Travis Schroeder and I'm glad you have stopped by to read my blog. Feel free to make comments on how I can improve my blog. I'm hoping to find a Disney theme soon to replace the default themes.

Applications came out yesterday on January 20th, 2010. I applied for the program today and passed my web-interview. I was so excited to get the strong candidate message. I was stressing over this interview but it ended up not being too bad. I have scheduled my phone interview for next Tuesday, January 26th at 3:00 PM. This gives me the weekend to study up on the roles I selected.

The roles I selected on my application were: QSFB (Quick Service Food and Beverage), Merchandise, Attractions, Main Entrance Operations, Recreation, Full Service Food & Beverage, Hospitality, Concierge, and Character Attendant. I'm still debating what roles to put as my Top 3 right now, but at the moment, they are: Attractions, Merchandise, and Main Entrance Operations. These might change by next Tuesday, but this is what I want to do right now.

I am a huge Disney fan. My last trip to Walt Disney World was in January 2009. I had so much fun that I hope I can make a career with Disney after I graduate from college. At the end of this month, I'm going on a 4-day cruise on the Disney Wonder (part of Disney Cruise Line). This will be my 4th cruise with DCL, so I know what the ships are like. :)

I hope to start a vlog soon to document the WDWCP application process and possibly my adventures on the Disney Cruise Line. I will let you all know if I decide to do that.

For now, I'm excited that one part of my Disney College Program dream is complete: the web interview. Have a magical day! :)
